Being Favor Minded

If you are trouble- minded you will see trouble around every turn… If you are anger-minded you will see reasons to be angry…if you are poverty-minded you will see yourself poor. But if you are favor-minded you will experience increasing favor.

Chasing Opportunity

It’s common for people to feel they have to chase opportunity.  They begin with thoughts like “When am I going to get my big break? When is my talent going to get recognized?”  In and of itself, those questions seem harmless. But the problem with that mindset is that it causes people to exhaust themselves chasing the favor of man rather than trusting God. It’s an easy trap to slip into. We can all be guilty of spending too much energy in pursuit of the favor of man rather than trusting that read more →

Increasing Favor

The past couple of years we have had an influx of babies being welcomed into the world by some of our younger staff members. These new babies do nothing to deserve the love and constant care the parents will provide them. It’s unmerited, unconditional favor. These children are the recipients of their parents favor, in much the same way that we are ...

Get In The Game

Have you ever felt like you were stuck in a rut? Maybe you’ve felt like you are failing to move forward in God’s plans for your life? We get comfortable being spectators and just sitting in the bleachers of life watching things happen from afar. It may not be intentional, but rather the result of indecision. Just one decision can set off a chain reaction that dramatically effects and enriches our lives.

How He Loves Us

God’s love for us is enormous, extravagant, endless. God doesn’t love us sometimes, He loves us all the time. God doesn’t love us conditionally, He loves us unconditionally. Psalm 36:5-6 says, “God’s love is meteoric, His loyalty astronomic, His purpose titanic, His verdicts oceanic. Yet in His largeness, nothing gets lost; not a man, not a mouse, slips through the cracks.”

The Leadings of God in Our Lives pt.3

Transition and seasons of change can quite possibly be some of the most disorienting and confusing times we face in life.  And church transitions are certainly a big part of this.  We all experience times where we feel God leading us toward something new or different.  However, these seasons also carry a risk- “God said” gone wrong.

The Leadings of God in Our Lives pt.2

“God told me.”  Three well intentioned words often spoken by people wanting to make a right decision or move in life.  These words carry weight... but, ironically enough, often cause a believer to miss the mark of God’s will.

The Leadings of God in Our Lives pt.1

I was recently in England at a conference and spoke on The Leadings of God in our Lives. Here’s a start to some of the big rocks and we’ll continue to talk about it over the next couple of posts.

Some of the most important questions we deal with in life and ministry have to do with the will of God in our lives.

How do I know if God is leading me?

Living From Your Values Part 3

How we live our life comes back to the things that are driving us, leading us forward. Those things are more than feelings. Usually we are being led forward along the road of life by the values we hold as most important. Maintaining awareness of our most important values will help us work toward what we want to accomplish most. We’ve been working from a list that is from Forces that Form Your Futureread more →

Bringing Others Along Part 1

When it comes to our church growth, or business growth, the ownership lies with us as leaders. Many leaders fall into the trap of “the work of doing” versus “the work of leading.” Many fail to make the shift from doing to leading. When we don’t make this shift, we hinder growth. And when we do make this shift, we facilitate growth.

Living From Your Values Part 2

Everyone is values driven. Salespeople make sales and can convince people to buy when they tap into that person's values. Some shoppers are bargain driven, others are quality driven, and still others are driven by how they feel about the person selling the product. Values are often associated with good people. 5 Most Important Relationships In Your Life

Last week we had one of my favorite events that we do all year—MESH Relationship Conference. The energy is contagious every year and this year did not disappoint. Relationships are the essence of life... when we struggle in relationships, we struggle in life. When we thrive in relationships we thrive in life.

THE 5 MOST IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIPS IN YOUR LIFE

YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

Let's Talk Relationships

We learn early on in life that relationships matter. By the time most people reach high school the people we sit with at the lunch table determine whether we’re a jock, geek, socially awkward, or part of the “in” crowd or not. At work if we hang out around the water cooler whether we’re the ones talking about everyone or not, we could easily be labeled as busy-...

Message RECAP: Turning towards God's Favor

We are living in the season of the Lord's favor right now! In what Jesus proclaimed to be the year of the Lord's favor.

In the Old Testament, God had a tendency to turn "towards" and "away" from humanity, but when Jesus proclaimed the year of the Lord's favor he was proclaiming the era we live in today and that God is turned towards man. read more →

Message RECAP: Year of Favor

Pastor Kevin was back in action to kick off the new year with a message on the Year of the Lord’s Favor. Just like Jesus proclaimed the year of the Lord’s favor in Luke 4 by reading a timeless passage from Isaiah, we can proclaim the year of the Lord’s Favor on our lives.

He [Jesus] stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he f...

Greater Weekend REcap

This fall we are studying "GREATER" as the idea that God wants us to live with a sense of expectation, a hope for our future, a faith and confidence about our lives. He wants us TO DREAM BIG, START SMALL and ignite the vision of God for our lives!

WE ARE ALL BEING CALLED TO BE A GREATER VERSION OF WHO WE ARE.

The path to greater = The life changing realization that God is ready to accomplish a unique kind of greatness in your life. Something beyond what we see in ourselves on our best days, something beyond where we are but true to who we are.

But, this "path to greater" is like a path with a ditch on both sides.

ON ONE SIDE = MISERABLE MEDIOCRITY

(The mediocrity mindset): This is ‘base line” living the place of low expectation.

One Day

We all have our routines, our daily schedules, our normal. Often, it may seem like a blur of the same things day in and day out. These daily routines even begin to overlap each other; Wednesday is just like Tuesday. Thursday is just like the Thursday the week before. What we do on these days is what we do every day.

In Acts 3:1, Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. Peter and John were doing the same thing they did everyday at three o’clock in the afternoon. They were going to church! And this wasn’t something they did weekly, on a Sunday or a Saturday evening—this was a part of their daily routine.

In verse 2, we read about a man who was disabled from birth bei...

Heart for the House Part 2

My story begins 30 years ago, when I was approximately one year old. In the fall of 1982, my parents arrived with me at our church—what is now known as Champions Centre. From that day on, we’ve been planted in the same local church. Never moved, never disconnected. We’ve stayed in place, and we have seen God do bigger things in our lives than we could have imagined.

Psalm 92:13-14 says it like this, “Planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green.”

In a day when it is trendy to be up on Jesus but down on the church, I decided that my life was going to reflect something different—a heart for God’s ...

Heart for the House Part 1

Recently, my husband took our family to visit a dear friend of his grandfather’s. I looked forward to our visit knowing he had spent much of his life as a Pastor. As we stood outside his door anticipating our invitation inside his home, I noticed a small plaque placed above the doorbell.

It read “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” What a bold statement he made to every person that entered his home. He was declaring to the world that his life was completely devoted to the service of God.

As a granddaughter to a Pastor, I am no stranger to the world of serving. The small neighborhood church that my grandfather pastored provided many op...

Have you ever had the wrong thing in mind?

Mind Monsters

Have you ever had the wrong thing in mind? Have you ever had one of those moments when i dawned on you, "I haven't been thinking right"?

It’s as if a light suddenly comes on, and you realize you’ve been giving a voice to mind monsters, those negative invaders that come and:

  • Steal your joy and peace
  • Disrupt your relationships
  • Take away your contentment in life

They steal your life, one day at a time. As you read this book, you may be thinking, “I attend church. I’ve given my life to Christ. I shouldn’t have to deal with mind monsters, right?” The truth is, a person can be saved and on his way to heaven and still have to battle mind monsters.

Honor Up, Down and All Around

Honor Up, Down and all Around

A few years ago in Washington D.C., a man quietly took his place up against a metro wall, pulled out his violin, placed his hat on the ground, and began to play. For this day he had chosen six selections from Bach. During his “performance,” several thousand people walked by. Some stopped to listen briefly, some gave sympathy money. On several occasions, little children would stop to listen, but every time they did, the parent would pull them on. Maybe it was just child-like curiosity…or maybe, the children sensed something. The “beggar” on the street that morning was the world renowned Joshua Bell. The instrument that sang in his hands was a violin valued at $3.5 million dollars. Just a couple days earlier, people had ...

Someone's One Day Begins In The Parking Lot

By Robin McCoy

The parking lot is really where our weekend worship experience begins. The message may be great and the worship may be amazing, but if a guest or someone has a bad experience or they feel less than welcomed in the parking lot—then they may not hear or experience the weekend service in its fullness. Chances are they could be missing something. Every step along the way until our guests (or anyone really) gets to the main auditorium is intentionally and purposefully designed with genuine hospitality in mind. The parking lot is no exception.

It’s not just concrete with lines and a bunch of cars parked all in a row. It’s not just a place where you leave your car while you attend a churc...

Interactive Outline

Our team has been hard at working thinking about new and innovative ways to connect with every type of person. We found that one of the most common types of learning but often left out is what's called kinesthetic.

Also known as tactile learning is a learning style in which learning takes place by carrying out a physical activity. Hands on. Us "do-ers" have a hard time retaining information without physically touching items.

So we created a new toy for you. The next time you're in service, pull out your mobile device and browse to http://championscentre.com/outline.

The messages notes will be loaded with fill in the blanks. We want to know what you think about this new technology. Does it help you? What kind of learner do you think you are? Is it distracting...

Finding Happiness

Happiness is possible where ever we are in life.

I was in my office the other day talking to a trio of the brightest young single people that I can imagine being in the same room together. They are young, thin, good-looking professionals with great personalities and an even better social life. Somehow the conversation drifted to one person mentioning how lonely being single can be at times. Then the other two singles chimed in immediately that they had the same experience!

I was pretty shocked that these high caliber singles with very ‘together’ lives felt this way. I mean, from the outside it looks as if the world is their oyster, foot loose!, fancy free, and ready to pick up and go at a moment’s notice. It never occurred to me that they were looking f...
